What is Galvanic Action?
In the presence of moisture, the zinc dust particles become an anode(+) and the underlying substrate becomes the cathode(-). Corrosion attacks the zinc, leaving the metal substrate untouched. Zinc bing higher in the electro-motive series that iron or steel, is more susceptible to corrosive attack, Thus in the presence of an electrolyte (moisture) zinc will preferentially sacrifice itself to protect the steel. Zinc ions go into solution, liberating electrons which cause a current flow into the steel, thereby preventing ferrous ions from going into solution and beginning the electrochemical corrosion cycle. SZS No Rust Zinc’s high Zinc loading (93% by weight ub the dry film) and the unique binder intensify this galvanic action in comparison to many other brands, especially zinc paints. As a consequence zinc coated material lasts longer, saving costly labor associated with recoating
What Spray Paint Can I Use on Galvanized Metal?
You can use any spray paint on the Galvanized Metal. But, a special type of Spray Paint know as Zinc Metal Spray Can will give long lasting protection to the galvanized surface to prevent it from rust.
What is zinc spray used for?
Zinc Spray is used for re touch up and give long time protection to the surface of Galvanized Metal which is exposed by scratches due to material handling or welding process. Zinc Spray is used when re-galvanizing is not possible on the metal.
What does zinc coating look like?
Zinc Coating usually looks Greyish or Bright Silver depending on the thickness of the material in the galvanizing princess. Zinc coating looks dull and grey when the galvanized metal is of higher thickness. While it looks shiny in case of light weight structures and thin metals. It also depends on the process of the Zinc Coating.
If we talk about the Zinc Sprays, they come in both finishes. Dull Grey finish and shiny silver finish.Selection depends upon the finish required for doing the touch-up.
What is SZS No Rust Zinc?
SZS No Rust Zinc is a high quality Zinc Rich Coating which contains 93% ultra pure zinc dust by weight in the dried film. This bonds to clean iron or steel surfaces to provide maximum protection against corrosion and “ Rust Creepage” through a process called “Galvanic Action”.
What if SZS No Rust Zinc is Scratched?
If SZS No Rust Zinc is scratched to the bare metal, the zinc will form a hard, impervious, insoluble barrier on the exposed area, continuing to protect against corrosion. This does not happen with paint based products. Essentially SZS No Rust Zinc is a self repairing coating.
What are the major users for SZS No Rust Zinc?
SZS No Rust Zinc is widely used to prevent corrosion and “Rust Creepage” in place of Hot-Dip galvanizing as well as the following:
